ABOUT JESSAMINE COUNTY FIRE DISTRICT

Founded in 1957, the Jessamine County Fire District is funded by a fire district tax pursuant to and in accordance with Chapter 75 of the Kentucky Revised Statutes. The Fire District is governed by a seven member board of trustees.

Jessamine County, KY is approximately 173 square miles of urban/rural geography with a population of 45,555 according to the 2007 Census Report. The fire district protects mostly rural farmland while the cities of Nicholasville and Wilmore, KY are protected by their own fire departments respectively within their boundaries. All three agencies work hand and hand with each other through mutual aid agreements in times of major fires or incidents.
